Predictive Maintenance
Preventative maintenance (PM) has long been a tool that electrical utilities use to extend the life of their equipment. However, in today's economy PM programs are becoming prohibitively expensive. Gone are the days of changing transformer oil on a timed schedule. Utilities today are beginning to turn to a more scientific approach to testing and maintenance. This process is called Predictive Maintenance (PdM). PdM programs, like PM programs help to extend the life of your assets. However, a well put together PdM will allow you to focus your maintenance budget where it is needed the most based on the actual health of your equipment.

Turn Key Power offers an array of cost effective, customizable PdM programs. These programs include various forms of thermal inspections, transformer oil analysis and visual inspection. Programs are tailored to reduce equipment failures and your maintenance budget.

Thermal Inspections
Thermal imaging is one of the most effective methods of detecting potential problems with your T&D assets. A thermographer can identify loose or corroded connections, low transformer oil levels, overheating transformers and/or bushing caps, unbalanced heat loads and more. Thermographic surveys improve maintenance effectiveness and reduce maintenance cost. They also improve system reliability, reduce down-time and potentially save your expensive equipment from catastrophic failure.

Turn Key Power uses Fluke's Ti25 thermal imager to search for potential issues within you T&D system. This state-of-the-art imager allows the thermographer many options to evaluate and display potentials problems, making corrective action decisions a snap.

Transformer Oil Analysis
Transformers are one of the most expensive components of your T&D assets. With the skyrocketing cost of materials it is more important now than ever to protect your infrastructure. 85% of oil filled transformer failures are caused by moisture in the oil. Most of these failures could have been avoided by an inexpensive testing regiment. The total cost of a transformer failure typically costs between 5 and 20 times the cost of the transformer.

Turn Key Power has partnered with Transformer Service, Inc. (TSI), a leading transformer service organization. With testing programs such as oil quality, dissolved gas and dissolved metals, we can tailor fit a cost effective testing regiment to help protect your equipment and reduce your maintenance cost. Test for PCBs in oil, water, soil, surfaces (porous and non-porous solids) and air are also available. We recommend that oil filled equipment is tested for PCBs at the beginning of a PdM program and then every following three to five years.
