or FERC- is an independent agency that regulates the interstate
transmission
of natural gas, oil, and electricity. FERC also regulates natural
gas and hydropower projects.

American Electric Reliability Corporation- Since 1968,
the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC)
has
been committed to ensuring the reliability of the bulk
power system in North America. To achieve that, NERC develops and
enforces reliability standards; assesses adequacy annually via a
10-year forecast and winter and
summer forecasts; monitors the bulk power system; audits owners,
operators, and users for preparedness; and educates, trains, and
certifies industry personnel. NERC is a self-regulatory organization,
subject to oversight by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission
and governmental authorities in Canada.

non-profit organization, IEEE is the world's leading professional
association for the advancement of technology. The IEEE name was
originally an acronym for the Institute of Electrical and Electronics
Engineers,
Inc. Today, the organization's scope of
interest has expanded into so many related fields, that it is simply
referred to by the letters I-E-E-E (pronounced Eye-triple-E).

Public Power Association- The American Public Power Association
(APPA) is the service organization for the nation's more than
2,000 community-owned electric utilities that serve more than
45 million Americans. It was created in 1940
as a non-profit, non-partisan organization. Its purpose is
to advance the public policy interests of its members and their
consumers, and provide member services to ensure adequate,
reliable electricity at a reasonable price with the proper protection
of the environment.
